Typography
Typography is the structure of every well designed interface. It is used to guide users through the interface and help them understand the logic behind the interface intuitively.
Global settings
ENGIE uses the LATO font. ENGIE provides headlines and a set of size. When more control is needed, check out the textual utility classes.
These styles can be found within _reboot.scss
, and the global variables are defined in _variables.scss
. Make sure to set $font-size-base
in rem
.
Installation
The import of the font into the <head>
is mandatory :
<link href="https://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Lato:300,400,700,900&display=swap" rel="stylesheet"/>

Type scale
We use a namespace based on the metric prefix. The type scale goes from 12(px)(0.75rem) to 76(px)(4.75rem). Check out the textual utility classes for scale.
$fs-map: (
"peta": 4.75rem, // 76px
"tera": 3.375rem, // 54px
"giga": 2.25rem, // 36px
"mega": 1.75rem, // 28px
"kilo": 1.5rem, // 24px
"hecto": 1.25rem, // 20px
"deca": 1.125rem, // 18px
"base": 1rem, // 16px
"deci": .875rem, // 14px
"centi": .75rem // 12px
);
Headings
All HTML headings, <h1>
through <h6>
, are available.
$h1-font-size: map-get($fs-map, "peta"); // 76px
$h2-font-size: map-get($fs-map, "tera"); // 54px
$h3-font-size: map-get($fs-map, "giga"); // 36px

$h5-font-size: map-get($fs-map, "base"); // 16px
$h6-font-size: map-get($fs-map, "deci"); // 14px
It is possible to customize this range of heading for your own project if this one is not appropriate. See the _type.scss

<p><s>This line of text is meant to be treated as no longer accurate.</s></p>
<p><ins>This line of text is meant to be treated as an addition to the document.</ins></p>

<p><strong>This line rendered as bold text.</strong></p>
<p><em>This line rendered as italicized text.</em></p>
.mark
and .small
classes are also available to apply the same styles as <mark>
and <small>
while avoiding any unwanted semantic implications that the tags would bring.
While not shown above, feel free to use <b>
and <i>
in HTML5. <b>
is meant to highlight words or phrases without conveying additional importance while <i>
is mostly for voice, technical terms, etc.
Text utilities
Change text alignment, transform, style, weight, and color with our text utilities and color utilities.
Abbreviations

Description list alignment
Align terms and descriptions horizontally by using our grid system’s predefined classes (or semantic mixins). For longer terms, you can optionally add a .text-truncate
class to truncate the text with an ellipsis.
- Description lists
- A description list is perfect for defining terms.
- Euismod
-
Vestibulum id ligula porta felis euismod semper eget lacinia odio sem nec elit.
Donec id elit non mi porta gravida at eget metus.
- Malesuada porta
- Etiam porta sem malesuada magna mollis euismod.
- Truncated term is truncated
- Fusce dapibus, tellus ac cursus commodo, tortor mauris condimentum nibh, ut fermentum massa justo sit amet risus.
- Nesting
-
- Nested definition list
- Aenean posuere, tortor sed cursus feugiat, nunc augue blandit nunc.
